Enabling Bold Structural Change

Within-school and within-district differences in opportunity having lasting implications for students’ trajectories in school and life. When teachers have the skill, resources, and support to bring the best possible lessons to life, visionary school systems can pave new pathways to universal college and career readiness.

Leading Educators developed the Enabling Conditions framework to identify the school-level conditions that we know facilitate successful instructional improvement. Schools are rated as being in one of four unique stages of development in relation to five different conditions areas.

Outcomes

  • 89% of schools with ratings at both the beginning and end of the 2017-18 school year improved their average conditions rating.

  • At the beginning of the 2017-18 school year, only 20% of schools supported by Leading Educators had an average score of at least 3.0 on the 4-point scale, which corresponds to the target rating of “Development”.

  • By the end of that same school year, 48% of schools supported by Leading Educators had achieved that same average rating of 3.0 or more.
