LEADING FOR EQUITY + INTRODUCTION TO CONTENT CYCLES

We start the week by examining the personal stories and the experiences that have shaped our identities as a foundation for critically thinking about inequity within schools.

Building from our core belief that high-expectations and rigorous learning experiences are the keys to equity, we begin to explore a content model for continuous, school-based professional learning.

FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS + PRACTICE IN ELA & MATH CONTENT

On the first of two content-focused days, we engage in differentiated sessions by content area and grade band to deepen our understanding of the college and career readiness standards shifts.

In the afternoon, we practice foundational skills for rigorous teaching with a narrower focus on the major works of the grade.

BUILDING KNOWLEDGE + APPLYING THE SHIFTS

Continuing the previous day's deep dive into content, we will unpack more layers of what the standards demand.

We will close out this work by considering instructional strategies for shifting the cognitive lift from teachers to students.

PLANNING FOR CONTENT CYCLES + LEADING WITH SELF-AWARENESS

The final day of LEI focuses on preparing for implementation.  In the morning, we will start develop concrete plans for professional learning based on the work of the previous three days.

The final session explores how awareness of identity contributes to a trusting team culture and reinforces shared practice in pursuit of better student learning.
