Associate Director of Program Strategy
Sandra is a former and forever teacher who continues to be motivated by her experiences in the classroom. She is a systems leader driven by her belief in the power of self-determination as a right for every child. As the Associate Director of Program Strategy, she leads strategic planning around knowledge management and collaboration at Leading Educators.
As a daughter of immigrants and as an underrepresented minority in her educational journey and in the world of education reform, Sandra has experienced first hand both great privilege and systemic obstacles. Those experiences, as well as the range of experiences of her peers, fueled a passion for designing systems that are inclusive and redemptive.
Before joining Leading Educators, Sandra taught in Washington, DC, dedicating four years to fourth grade and three years as a middle school literacy interventionist. She also supported staff, students, and families as the intervention coordinator for the middle school.
Sandra holds a M.Ed from George Mason University and a B.A. in Sociology from Wheaton College (IL).
She currently lives in New Hampshire with her husband and two children. She spends her free time trying to imitate creative play activities designed by Instagram-moms (with varying levels of failure and success).
