Kami McDonald
She/Her/Hers
Manager of Development

Kami manages cultivation and stewardship to a robust community of philanthropic partners as Manager of Development at Leading Educators.

Kami’s “Why”

Kami’s experiences as a Louisiana public school student and as an award-winning television news producer in Baton Rouge, LA, who covered education-related stories sparked her desire to serve an education-focused nonprofit. Kami also credits her parents, veteran middle school teachers in Louisiana, as her inspiration to work with organizations with missions to reduce the student achievement gap in her home state.

Kami’s Journey

Kami joined Leading Educators in May 2016 as Executive Assistant and Special Projects Coordinator to the CEO. Before joining Leading Educators, Kami served as Louisiana Logistics Coordinator for the Black Alliance for Educational Options. In this role, she supported a statewide team that worked to inform parents on the best practices to increase relationships with their child's teacher and how to navigate the education changes in New Orleans.

Kami earned her undergraduate from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She is a native of Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana and lives in New Orleans.
