Chief Executive Officer
In the summer of 2018, Chong-Hao will succeed Jonas Chartock as the new CEO of Leading Educators. As CEO, he will work to advance the organization’s mission to expand teachers’ leadership skills and opportunities, building a national movement to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed in school and life.
In his previous role as Chief Learning Officer, Chong-Hao led Leading Educators’ partnership, thought leadership, and district consulting teams. In his prior role as Chief Program Officer, Chong-Hao led the design, delivery and evaluation of Leading Educators’ programming in cities around the country including Washington D.C., New Orleans, Houston, Kansas City, Denver, and Memphis. Chong-Hao serves as national thought leader on teacher leadership and professional learning and has presented to the Council of Chief State School Officers, American Federation of Teachers, the Aspen Institute, and the Department of Education. He was the lead author of a series of white papers with Aspen Institute entitled “Leading from the Front of the Classroom” and one of the co-authors of “Leading Educators State Teacher Leadership Toolkit.”
Before his time at Leading Educators, Chong-Hao was the founding principal at KIPP Sharpstown in Houston, Texas and a middle and high school math teacher in Houston and Greenville, Mississippi. He holds a B.A. from Yale University and a M.Ed. from National Louis University.
