THE CANDIDATE

We are consistently inspired by the diverse roles our teacher-leaders play within their schools. While some are veteran educators continually seeking improvement, others are aspiring future school leaders who drive dynamic results in the classroom. There is no typical Leading Educators Fellow. They are found among Lead Teachers and Deans, Curriculum Coordinators and Department Chairs. And although their roles encompass the breadth of learning, management and school culture responsibilities, they share a commitment to serve all students. They hold themselves accountable for the success of every student. And they are acutely aware that external change begins within.

Successful candidates for the Leading Educators Fellowship:

• strive for greater impact in their current school roles
• are highly skilled teachers or dynamic school behavior experts
• hold themselves accountable for student achievement and behavior results
• have at least 2 years of teaching experience by the time they begin the program
• are endorsed by their principal or school leader (see Apply Now), who provides a portion of their application as well as an annual principal assessment of their progress
• exhibit strong leadership potential or aspirations OR serve in a teacher-leader role

• Unwavering commitment to closing the achievement gap
• A firm belief that all children can achieve at high levels
• Commitment to their current school during their two-year program tenure
• Communication and interpersonal skills that empower
• Teaching aptitude and proven results
• Critical thinking and problem solving ability
• Potential to influence and mobilize others
• Self-awareness
• Motivation to learn
• Personal responsibility
