Selection Process
Becoming a Leading Educator
Our four-step admissions process helps us determine whether an applicant meets our Candidate Profile (see our Defining Leading Educators page) for admission to the program this academic year.
- Register Your Interest
- Application and Principal Recommendation form
- Interview and Assessment Session
- Reference Check
If you have any general questions about this process or specific calendar dates, please feel free to contact the Recruitment Team at recruitment@leadingeducators.org or consult our calendar on the Home page.
Please note: As email is our primary means of communication with applicants, be sure your account will accept email from the domains leadingeducators.org and nlns.org
The Application Process
STEP 1: Register Your Interest
Applicants indicate their interest in Leading Educators by completing the Register Your Interest online form. (This form populates our database directly with your contact information so we can send out notices, reminders, etc. during the application process.) You are not required to proceed beyond this first stage of the application process.
STEP 2: Application (includes Principal Recommendation form)
Our Application consists of a Word document (.doc) that must be completed and submitted via email to recruitment@leadingeducators.org by the application deadline. You can download this form from the navigation bar at your left.
Your supporting principal or school leader must also provide a recommendation to endorse your application to the program. We will reach out to obtain this recommendation based on the email address you provide in your Register Your Interest form. Please inform your principal or school leader of your application and advise them of relevant deadlines (see below).
Candidates must complete the Application by our final deadline:
*Priority Deadline: April 11, 2008
Late Consideration: April 25, 2008
Once the Application and Principal Recommendation form are received, we will notify you that the first step in this process is complete. Upon review of these materials and based on our Candidate Profile, we may extend an invitation to join us for an Interview and Assessment Session.
STEP 3: Interview and Assessment Session
This Saturday or weekday evening session serves as an opportunity for applicants to share their experiences and discuss their interest in becoming a Leading Educator.
The 2-3 hour session combines interviews, written assignments, role plays, and other assessment activities in a group setting.
There will be multiple opportunities to participate in an Interview and Assessment Session. Please consult the Calendar on our Home Page for details.
STEP 4: Reference Check
As the final step in confirming eligibility for the program, we will contact a candidate's references, as provided on the Application.
Final Decision Notification
Applicants will be notified of admission decisions within one week of completing the Interview and Assessment Session. Applicants who are accepted into the program will receive a scholarship for all trainings, travel and events.
