Professional Development


What professional development experiences will participants have?

Program Experiences
Over the course of their two years as a Leading Educator, teacher-leaders will participate in a range of professional development experiences, including:

  • Summer Intensive Session (for 2008, this session runs July 21-28)
  • Evening Workshops (6) during the school year
  • School Visit Trips to other cities to visit exemplary open-admissions urban schools that have closed the achievement gap (3-day trip)
  • Weekend Residential Retreat (during the school year)
  • Meetings with your Peer Coaching partner throughout the year (as scheduled by you and your partner)
  • Recruitment Events as member of the Leading Educators community


What topics/skills will be addressed in the professional development experiences?

Training Topics
Professional development experiences will be designed to help Leading Educators become more skillful leaders and mid-level managers who directly contribute to higher student achievement and a motivational, orderly school culture in which teaching, learning, and healthy relationships can thrive.
