Defining Leading Educators

Who are the Leading Educators?

Academic Deans, Department Chairs, Grade Level Team Leaders, Curriculum Coordinators, and Mentor or Lead Teachers are all Leading Educators in the schools they serve.

The Leading Educators program provides additional support, training and mentoring to help participants drive significant improvement in their schools.

Leading Educators are individuals who:

• strive to have a greater impact in their current school roles
• supervise or support at least 1 or more staff or teachers
• have at least two years of teaching experience
• appreciate the support of a principal or school leader who endorses their application to the program and partners with them in their ongoing development
• will serve in a New Orleans open enrollment public school for the school year 2008-2009
